More About Facial Pain

Facial pain and pain over the forehead is usually thought to be from the sinuses.

In fact the sinuses very rarely cause the pain, an exception being an acute infection when you have a temperature, blocked nose and thick nasal discharge. In order to find the cause of the pain an endoscopic examination of the nose (nasendoscopy) will allow an excellent view of the lining of the nose to check the sinus openings.

The facial pain is often tension type headaches, migraines, trigeminal neuralgia, midfacial segment pain or the temoromandibular joint (TMJ or jaw joint).
